About Hasan Mahmud
Born in Bangladesh in 1949 and after doing Masters in Biochemistry Hasan moved to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates in 1975 and worked as a lab technologist and then a chief technologist in a hospital until 1990.
Then he migrated to Canada. It is here that he started an extensive research on Sharia law. Hasan joined Muslim Canadian Congress in 2003 and took a front line role in MCC’s successful resistance to the Canadian Sharia Court. The court had been established in 1991 and functioning since then with the blessing of Ontario law and was banned in 2003 when the Ontario Government enacted a new law banning all faith-courts.
Hasan produced websites, books and docu-movies on Sharia law to create awareness in Muslim societies about the deadly impact of Sharia law.
His book in his native language (Bangla), Sharia Ki Bole Amra Ki Kori (শারিয়া কি বলে, আমরা কি করি), created a powerful positive impact on our civil society and judiciary against Political Islamists. He is currently translating it in English with the name “Defeating Radical Islam – Undoing the Wrongdoing”. Hasan has been an invited speaker on Human Rights in Islam in dozens of conferences and seminars in Asia, Europe, America and Canada.
